Location: Namibia » Southern RegionZebra River LodgeZebra River LodgeDescriptionThe Lodge in the Zebra River valley, surrounded by the canyons Set in the heart of the Zaris Mountains, Zebra River Lodge offers a peace and tranquility that is not easily found, even on the quietest of roads. Tucked away in the canyons, enjoy the familiar atmosphere of a small guest house, either joining in or spending time on your own, depending on your wishes. As your hosts, we shall endeavour to provide you with personal attention. Our rooms are individually decorated and are spacious enough for an extended stay, should relaxation be the focus of your holiday! The most spectacular feature of Zebra River is the dramatic canyon landscape and the endless hiking opportunities this affords. There are 13000 hectares to explore - in solitude, or guided should you prefer. Enjoy the variety of fauna and flora! Namacalathus, the oldest shelly fossil in the world, was discovered here in our canyons in 1996 | | | | We plan to have a page devoted to the geology and paleontology of the general area with a special focus on the wonderful ancient world that we live in at Zebra River. Many thanks to Prof. John Grotzinger and Steve DiBenedetto of MIT in the USA for their input! | Aside from the canyons and plateau trails we have several perennial springs each in its own unique surrounding. To visit the closest spring, you could combine a 7 km 4 x 4 drive with an easy 90 minute walk. Relax under the wild fig trees which reach for the sky above the canyon wall. Don't rush! Take the day out to enjoy our "Garden of Eden" in the desert landscape.
DirectionsOur general location is due east of Sesriem and south-east of the Naukluft mountains,
